Over the summer we paid a visit to the world-class facilities at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). The reason being to install their latest acquisition; another specialised h/p/cosmos treadmill. This complements their suite of about nine h/p/cosmos quasar and pulsar treadmills, one of which is a specially specified machine for use within their environmental chamber.
Liverpool John Moores University
Liverpool John Moores University is one of the largest and progressive universities in the UK. Consequently, it earns a reputation for excellence. In fact, the LJMU School of Sport and Exercise Sciences is ranked ninth in the world. It is also the sixth best in Europe in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2017 for the sports sciences subject area.
Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences (RISES)
The LJMU School of Sport and Exercise Sciences is actually a research-informed department. In fact, 97% of their research activity rates as world-leading or internationally excellent. This is what makes LJMU the top-ranked institution in the UK for Research Quality in Sport and Exercise Sciences.
This world-class school continues to be at the cutting-edge of innovation in sport and exercise sciences. Moreover, every student of the School is a member of RISES and is encouraged to engage in research within their appropriate field. Furthermore, with student numbers increasing on the undergraduate degree programme, more equipment is required to cater for the increase in research. This is why LJMU got in touch with us.
State-of-the-art laboratory facilities
LMJU are investing in the future of their sports scientists. They are doing this by carefully selecting a range of high-tech equipment for both students and research staff.
Their Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences adopts a multidisciplinary applied research perspective to these sport and exercise areas:
- Biomechanics
- Brain and Behaviour
- Cardiovascular Health Sciences
- Exercise Metabolism and Adaptation
- Physical Activity Exchange
- Football Exchange
- Psychology and Development
We went to install the new h/p/cosmos treadmill in one of their sports science teaching labs where it will be used for student teaching purposes and practical sessions, such as VO2 Max Testing and Lactate Profiling.
