Monark 891EW
The Monark 891EW Cardio Rehab Ergometer features a weighted basket for measuring anaerobic and aerobic capacity in the upper body. It is positioned on a stable fixture which can be adjusted in height to facilitate an optimal cycling position, sitting or standing.
The weight basket enables instant loading and the calibrated weights vouch for unmatched accuracy, repeatability and reliability. The renowned weight basket system from Monark is self adjusted and doesn’t need calibration. It is adapted for use in rehabilitation, development and following-up for people with physical disabilities. Ideal for exercise from a wheelchair.
Ideal for upper body cardio
In a 2016 study, the Monark 891EW was used as an arm ergometer for upper-body sprint interval training (SIT). Participants performed short, intense sprints using the ergometer, followed by rest periods. The study investigated the impact of different work-to-rest ratios on energy system contributions during these sprints. The Monark 891EW’s role was to measure power output and performance during these upper-body efforts, allowing researchers to analyse how different rest periods influenced recovery and energy utilisation across aerobic and anaerobic systems.
